A tremendous amount of work goes into the design and development of a quality and effective website. Those "free" website applications that allow users to create their own website can be impressive but typically aren't effective. In that I am referring to placement on the major Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing & Safari where your product or service can be easily found. What good is a beautiful website if only you and your existing customers/clients use it because without knowing the exact URL (Uniform Resource Locater), it can't be found. After all, isn't one of a website's main purpose to expose your business to "new" customers?.... For example, let’s say your name is Pete, you make custom cabinets and your website address (URL) is www.petescustomcabinets.com and that there are many other custom cabinet makers in your city. Then, someone who is planning to remodel their kitchen decides to Google "custom cabinets" in order to find prospective cabinet makers. A list pops up with several pages of cabinet makers and guess where the customer sees Pete's Custom Cabinets? They don't because Pete's is buried five or six pages deep on the list and no one ever goes that far. Statistics show that decisions are made within the first two or three pages. That's where Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is of utmost importance. Without it your site never gets ranked high enough to get to those first few pages where decisions are made. The free DIY applications do not provide individual SEO for your specific site and therefore for the most part are ineffective.
